Project Description
The Bakrman Dam is a key component of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s long‑term water infrastructure strategy, developed to support agriculture, and enhance regional resilience against climate variability. As part of a broader initiative that has seen multiple dams completed and others progressing through various stages of planning and construction, the Bakrman Dam is currently in the planning and design phase under the leadership of the Kurdistan Regional Government and in coordination with federal authorities in Baghdad. In recognition of its strategic importance, Imperial Capilano GP Inc (Capilan Group), a Canadian construction and engineering firm, has been awarded the logistics and construction management responsibilities for the Bakrman Dam project.
In this role, the firm is overseeing detailed design coordination, site logistics planning, material procurement strategies, and early contractor engagement to ensure the project advances efficiently through pre‑construction stages. The planning work for Bakrman Dam includes comprehensive site assessments and coordination with engineering teams to refine the dam’s technical requirements. Although the full construction contract has not yet commenced, these preparatory activities are critical in aligning project objectives with technical and regulatory standards. Once built, it will help capture and store water resources, support irrigation and local agriculture, and provide a foundation for future economic and community growth in the surrounding areas.
